Default in-dash dvd w/ nav. advice!

so i checked all the fuses and wiring to my stock symphony headunit, and everything is in order, so i'm guessing i fried the head unit. So once again a grand opportunity to upgrade presents itself.

I want to do a in-dash dvd player, that mounts flush. I would also like to do nav but that can get really spendy really fast. anyways, i've been lookin around and found one from audiovox that i like and this one from kenwood

i was wondering if anyone had any other ideas, perhaps maybe even slapping a stock audi headunit in there. Thanks for any ideas.

Pioneer Avic D-1

This is a better headunit for your money. Its a little more pricey but better quality. The only think is you cant play DVD's when driving but you can fix that by hooking up playstation2 or somthing like that.

Would you install it yourself or not???

i would go wit this pioneer one casue they have something that show some car stats
some of them are redundant like speed and stuff but i has some somewhat fun gauges
if i had the money i would go for it

I'm looking for something that will mount flush, i don't like the fold out screens, i had one in my last vehicle and it shook too much and got to be annoying. also, it needs to be ipod compatible. not necessarily be able to browse my ipod through the screen, but at least be able to get a direct connect.

any thoughts on a factory head unit w/ nav.?

p.s.-alta-mere would be installing it.

i like both those systems, except for:

AVIC-D1
you can't change nav destinations or play video when the car is moving (there is no way to by-pass this fault on the Pioneer system because it also ties into wheel speed and the GPS motion sensor), also the ipod display is only 8 characters.

AVIC-N2
not flush mount

did you look into ECLIPSE or CLARION? they make some good stuff... on occassion.

it will be really hard to find the stuff that works while driving in terms of DVDS these days.

i have the kenwood 8017, its goin in monday. i can let you know how it is when its installed

https://www.audiforums.com/m_125498/tm.htm

theres a thread witha pic of it

i heard its the best in dash screen on the market...thats why i got it..

8017 comes with DTS which supports 5.1 surround sound, and is still navi compatible, motorized screen. you prolly already know. deck looks sick, and its supposed to illuminate red

edit: forgot to mention its touch screen still. doesnt get better then this for a screen. 8017 is gonna be more then the 7015 and 7017. id go with a 70 series. only difference between 8017 and 7017 is the DTS.
