Debadgers plz help?
Good luck, most people fail to realize that you live in FL (constant sun) and depending on how the car was kept the paint has faded around the emblems and will not look the same. I did mine and i can still see the outline, although its still smooth to the touch. Also a heat gun, goo gone and scrubbing so hard that your hands hurt is not all that great for the clear coat. A clay bar could possibly pick up some of the residue but will not help with the fading.
well if it turns out to be because of fading i'll put a new badge on b/c i dont want it to look like that. but i will try the claybar fisrt, thanks for all the help

I can tell you first hand the outlines will come off. Its just a matter of how hard you will work for it. I have a 97, pearl white, and I didn't debadge mine till about 7 months ago and it was a total b!tch. I was in the same exact boat as you. I used a plastic razor as well and it worked very very good. As for the faint color difference I had, I just compounded and claybar and it was alot better. I could still catch a small outline in the right light or with bright headlights on it, but then that went away after a month or so. Get it off as best you can. The rest will come off after the next few washes.
PS I love how you put your APR badge there I allways wanted to do that but I only have one.

Dude your car is white and you live in p-burgh, thats a debagging dream right there. Having first hand experience aswell the paint fades and it shows up better on darker colors which sucks. I have done everything, claybar, rubbing compound, goo gone, oops, goof off, hairdryer, wd40, a piece of HDPE as a scrapper, used a buffer and it is still there. The more sun your car has and the older your car is the harder it is to get to look like nothing was there. Now after readiong this and posting this i feel like messing with it again.

Ok so i managed to find some claybar. It worked very well, though there is still a faint outline which is probably from fade as recently stated. I'll give this a few weeks to even out and if its still bothering me at that point then i'll remount the emblems. but i dont think thatll be neccessary. the claybar worked great and the Mother's Shine Spray that came with it is awesome too. i shined up the whole back end after i was finished. anyways here are some pictures!:

<<professional detailing in the house... at my shop i have a heat gun....lot better then hair dryer, so u got to keep the hayr drier on top of it for at least a minute,, or until u cant touch because its to hot...i do this everyday, never damaged no clear coat,,, becarefull with the rubing ,,it will scratch!!!
i dont know what the hell goo gone is but it sounds like a "spotter" " spot remover" "solvent" .. pu some of that thing and rub quick... heat again and rub,,, in case u cant do it...just go to any new car dealership,,, they have some good proucts that will get that out in a second....just go talk to the detailers.. they should not charge anything..cuz I don't!
