Hello audi members, how are you guys doing? I signed up for this awesome forum to find out more about
audi a4's and audi s4.. Currently I'm really debating either I should get 1998+ audi a4 or 2000 s4..
oh yea of course, I would pick S4 out of A4 but I would like to buy off a car with just a cash that I have.

My back ground, this is my first turbo car. I am from honda family and made 13.1/1/4 mile time with just N/A motor.
I know you guys probably hate hondas but yes this is where I came from. Recently I sold my Honda cbr 600rr( motorcycle)
and I have about 5000 dollar left and 1995 Honda accord EX as trade-in.

If I do get a S4, It would be my father's primary vehicle(automatic transmission). Yes I am willing to pay down payment about 5000.00
and just share the vehicle on weekends whenever I go out. If I do get Audi a4( 5 speed manual transmission), it would be my car and will mod it until i think it's fast.
Trying to hit low 13's again. I did some research and it saids with about 2000.00 ~ 3000.00 dollars, I should be able to work on decent suspension
work and some turbo works too. Correct me If I am wrong.

Questions ?

Am I able to make a body work like S4? example : replacing front bumper etc.. What are the difference? body wise? A4 and S4

The car that I am looking at has about 110k mileage for 5500 bucks. Is that a normal price?

With 3000.00, do you think I can make it faster than S4?

Well off the bat I'd say get the S4, but since it won't be just your car and auto, might as well get the A4 manual. With 3000 you should be able to come close to the S4's performance.

 

I just searched everywhere. Where can I get purchase S4 front bumper? Will it fit correctly? are S4 side and rear bumpers different than S4?



Is this A4 did S4 body swap with suspension work? if so that is sweet..

 

yes, you can swap all of the s4 kit to the a4... you can get it at the dealer.. but it will cost you, you would almost be better off to just get an rs4 front from like reiger or something and choose your own sides and rear valence... check out some of the aftermarket parts distributors listed in the "audi links" sticky near the top of the a4 forum

 

the S4 is an A4 with a different body different suspension and a 2.7l twin turbo where the A4 has a 1.8l turbo or 2.8l Na

 

i was on the net yesterday one of the sites with had GT2X Eliminator turbo kit i cannot find it do your search for about $1300 and had a sale on the installation on the turbokit for 500. if you pay 600 for the the tuning for the ecu and another 800 for a nice exhaust system there ya go. still you need a intercooler that will run you about a grand. it will be faster then a s4 but in a long run i would stick witht he s4

 

eww, auto S4... manual A4 gets my vote

 

i dunno, an auto S4 would still be bretty bad ***, level 10 the tranny and make it bullet proof then throw more power at it

go with the manual a4. with another 3 grand you can get into s4 territory. although an s4 with another 3 grand in it is nutz
