I'd go with the 1.8T because it's a prettier color BUT it isn't certified. NO WAY would I let them give me less for my trade and not sale me a certified vehicle. I would insist that they get the 1.8T certified or else you will not buy it. If they don't certify it then look for another 1.8T that is certified but maybe has a little more mileage. 12,000 miles on an '05 is a great find but I think you'd be better off with a 25 or 30 thousand mile certified vehicle.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I suppose no matter what I pick I'll come out ahead! Sarah, the dealer for the 1,8 is not an Audi dealer, he's a Chevy dealer who got the car as a trade, so he can't certify it unfortunately. Apologies for no paragraphing & brevity, I'm posting from my cellphone!

Well that stinks. So the dealer where the red 3.0 is doesn't have any 1.8s on the lot?

Well, I ended up getting the 1.8T today - the age and mileage was a big thing for me, plus I want to chip it with an APR Stage 1+. The 3.0 was fantastic, but I felt the 1.8T handled just that wee bit better - I'm not really planning to do many stoplight races anyway. I think I'll go for that flip switch thing that APR has to switch from stock to chipped and back for when I take it in for service. I thought seriously about the certified attribute of the 3.0, but as I'm planning to uptrade to the S5 in a couple of years the extra 2yrs and 50miles weren't as big a factor in my purchase decision.

Anyway, I'm stoked. Thanks very much for everyone's feedback! I'll post some pics of the car when I pick it up tomorrow. I have now left the ranks of the Alfisti and joined the ranks of the Audiphiles!

Congrats on the purchase.

Is the 3.0 the one that was/is at Mattie Imports in Fall River, MA?

Before it was there it was at Herb Chambers in Burlington and I was all about purchasing it, unfortunately, I found the car on auto trader about an hour after they sold it to Mattie... Herb Chambers ended up getting a 2004 3.0 beige/premium black that I ended up getting. Very happy with it so far.

Good luck with the new car! (Who did you buy it from? Out of curiosity)

That will change after you go APR 1+.... Trust me.... You will look back and laugh at the fact you had to debate so hard between N/A and forced induction. Congrats.
