Default Desperately need help

I have an 98 A4 1.8t and I'm getting a CEL. I've switched the coil around and changed the plug and it is still cylinder # 2. The only thing I could think of would be the wires or the injector. Any advice?

From what you wrote are you trying to say you have a CEL and it stated there was a misfire on cylinder 2? Is your CEL blinking? Car in limp mode?If so its probably the ignition control unit.

Yeah. I went outside and messed around and found that when i moved "this thing ontop of the airbox" the missfire sound went away. Just got this car and the oil pressure light keeps coming on and now this.

Ouch.. if the oil pressure light it coming on thats not good. It might be the dreaded oil sludge.Do you use full synthetic oil and the updated large filter?

The ignition control module/install if you get it done at the dealer will cost ~$400, less from independent shops.

If your engine is all sludged up you may need a new engine. I would not drive the car at all if that light is coming on (not that you probably can since its in limp mode.) I'd get it to a dealer or reputable shop ASAP!

Well the light comes only sometimes. And only after driving for a a while. The car is workin properly right now. I just jiggled the ICM and it corrected itself. I am not saying that the problem is solved but is corrected for now. I'm still worried about it but I do have a 90 day warranty on the car.

EDIT: And yes I do use full synthetic with the updated, "tractor trailor" size oil filter.

I dunno if I'd keep the car if their could be oil sludge, I'd do an oil pressure test or something.

non-drive by wire, also called dbc, drive by cable

the 2000+ motors are dbw, which is drive by wire.
