Ok... Soo i just got back from portugal yesterday and I went to the gas station to get gas in my car.. ( 2002 A4 3.0)

I for some reason stop at a gas station that pumps the gas for you! There is a young kid working there.. i pull up to the pump tell him to fill it up.. I am paying no attention and he starts to pump.. all the sudden he stops and comes to my window and bluntly says.. " This isn't diesel is it? " I was like you have to be kidding me.. NO ITS NOT DIESEL.. he says i already put 3 gallons of diesel fuel in it.. He thought it was a TDI.. i didnt know what to do he went and got his boss.. and he didnt know what the hell to do neither. I left my car there and am just lost.. i have no idea what to do..

Is it safe to run my car?.. is it going to be ruined?!

Thats what you get for being an *** that pays someone to pump his gas - J/K.... just siphon as much out that you can and fill it all the way with the best stuff - might be a little rough but it will be ok. Are you in the UK? Must be if the kid thought it was a TDI. And I thought that the diesel pump was larger than the unleaded pump just so things like this don't happen!! Or is that only state-side.

 

lol... i usually always pump my gas.. but for some reason i didnt yesterday.. and nope im in Pennsylvania.. i dont know what the hell the kid was thinking... I guess i will just go to the gas station and have them do it.. its not my fault!

 

Where in PA? i live in pittsburgh and there are like no gas stations that pump gas for u...

We dont have many around here but there are a few... my mom always goes to them lol

 

If i went to a gas station and they said i couldnt pump my gas id just leave...

i dont trust many people to work on my car, wash my car, touch my car! and no one pumps my gas lol

 

+1 same here. there's been a lot of bad stories like this lately.

 

how come the diesel gun fit your gas hole ?

buy a hose and suck all the gas inside of your tank. make sure nothing left. then fill up full with 93 or something.

access to the fuel pump in trunk, take it out and see the gas tank make sure nothing left in the tank.

At least that's what I'd do.

 

done the same thing myself twice after driving diesels for so long i forgot on two occasions and put about 2 gallon in mechanic advised me to fill upto the brim with petrol and take it easy for a few days black smoke out the exhaust try to accelerate slowly will clear in a few days had no problems since also putpetrol in my diesel car not such a quick fix

 

Best bet is to suck as much out as possible, i wouldnt chance running the car with deisel and damaging your plugs and Cat. If you can get 95% out i think youll be in the clear.
