differences between b5 a4 and s4 ?
hey, so i have a 2.8 q a4, no mods. I'm thinking of getting a b5 s4, but wondering what the real differences are going to be. I mean, i read that the 2x supercharged v6 only gets 250 hp? I may be way off (if so please excuse my lack of info there..), but what are the differences? Body? Rims i know, but what else? Thanks.

Ummmm no the S4 is 250 hp stock.
The b5 S4 has larger brakes, better suspension and a much better engine. It also has different seats and trim.
Honestly, go test drive one and you'll see the difference.

so $$ wise, is it worth it to get that much hp vs. doing whatever mods to my stock 2.8 (i think 190hp) engine to get it closer to those hp? How much can it be to add the bigger brake kit and suspension? Or is it more the $$ to get 'the s4' ? I assume that it isn't as easy as i think to just 'get more hp' out of my stock 2.8, short of doing the whold bi turbo deal, in which case we're back where we started. I guess, i'm just wondering if its worth the money to but a whole different car vs just modding the crap outta my stock 2.8. thanks for the input.

I notice you have a 1997 2.8? You do know there is no supercharger for that engine right? Only the 30 valve engines created in 98 and newer.
All around it will be less headache and cheaper to buy a S4. Plus the S4 starts at 250hp and with a $500 chip you can be around 310hp.

chriscollins, there's a reason the S4s cost 3 times more than the A4s...you get what you pay for, trust me...you really can't compare the two, nor can you make the 2.8L A4 compete with an S4, especially the 12V. even the 30V's potential maxes out at about where the stock S4 is i think...
