How much that would cost to fix the differential sealing ?

Same question with two front control arms.

I know I can ask the dealer, but justto make just I won't be screwd.

i bought a 97 a4 2.8 one month ago. the front driver side was rattling. i called audiusa to check whether the former owner got all the recall fixed. i was told there was no recall due however there was a campaign for front lower control arm for this model. it will be a free look but they may reimburse me some if i can provide a qualified maintainance record. i know i can't. then i called one dealer to arrange the service. fortunately, i was told to wait for one week. so i called another dealer and used recall instead of campaign when i requested the service. an appoitment was set. it took the service guy about one hour to check the car and he told me the control arms would be good for couple of years more though they were old. he told me the noise was from the bearings. i asked him " are you sure?" then we put the car down and had a test drive. it was strange that the noise decreased so much after the car had been lift up for one hour. it took me a while to make the noise come back. then the guy took the car away for another one hour. when he came back, i was surprised that he changed the diver side front lower control arm and charged nothing. several weeks passed, i haven't heard the noise any more.
so go to the dealer and try your luck.
