diverter valve?
All a diverter valve does is hold boost... and let it escape when you release the throttle.
There is a spring in the DV... swapping out the DV means you want a stiffer spring... you'd only NEED a stiffer spring if you were making more boost than the stock DV could handle (this would mean that boost would escape BEFORE you let off the gas).
Putting on a stiff spring with stock boost would be bad, I would think... as it wouldnt let the boost escape as easily.

In lieu of threats and general outrage and exasperation, I am going to help you.
It will make the spool-up very slightly more noticeable to the ear. The effect is has on the sound the turbo makes might even be psychological to someone without a chip. It is not really going to "help" your turbo, it will help you maximize your turbo's output to have a reliable, strong valve to send un-needed boost back into your intake tract. If you are running a higher boost pressure than stock, your shitty stock DV has probably already given up and you will notice some not insignificant gains in boost response, especially between gears, and peak boost.
So if you plan on raising your boost level, an aftermarket DV is a very worthwhile upgrade. If not, you might as well buy a 710n valve from an Audi TT at a dealer or an online retailer.
That is all. Be grateful your first ten responses weren't variations on the phrase, "STFA NOOB!!!1!!!!!!!!1!!" and various different expressions of anger and dismay towards you.

I put a Forge 007 DV in when I was doing the install for my Snub from Purems. I do notice the boost spike has leveled out a bit, but other than that, it doesn't have any effect. Plan on getting chipped soon, so it was logical to install it then.
