Default DIY A4 help

Hey all,
Hopefully this is the correct place post this but if not please let me know where i should.
I towed my wifes A4 to the dealer the other day since it wouldn't start.
Well my dealer sucks a$$ and wants 700 bucks to to change a vacum hose, clean throttle bodys and change the plugs.
So I'm planing on doing a tune up myself this weekend with some buddies.
Can anyone piont me to a place with some good how to's on the A4?
I've got a manual but I've found forums to be a good place to start for those little gotcha's from some one who has don it before.

The car is a 99 1/2 A4Q 2.8
I plan to do the following...
change the plugs , wires, dist cap and rotor fuel fiter, and vacum hose.
a friend suggested I run fuel injecter cleaner through the feul system as well
any help would be great!!!!!

thanks in advance.

first of all, the best investment you can make for your car (if you do alot of repairs/maintenance yourself) is the BENTLEY service manual...chiltons and haynes are decent, but not nearly as good as the bentley. you can also get the bentley in CD form if you prefer that, but the book is good because you can have it right there with you during repairs. the most extensive collections of write-ups would probably be the tech section at audiworld.com, but i don't think everything you listed above will have a write-up...fuel injector cleaner is a good idea, i used gumout regane and got about 50+ miles per tank after two treatments.

You can buy a Hayne's manual off ebay for like $12. That's what I did.

The cd is better than the Bentley book. Just print out any pages you want to use and trash em afterwards. Why smudge up a $80 book in the garage?

I should use fuel treatment for my 00 A4 too... Anyways, I just replace some of my
vac hose and it is a PITA trying to remove the vac hose from the sensor under the
intake manifold! Jest say that it take patience and maybe it does but I wasn't in
any patience because I needed the A4 ready for the weekend. I use the electronic
manual from the web and print something that I need. I should really just get the
Bently manual if I got the change...

Because repair manuals look cool when you smudge them!!! It means you've been doing lots of work.

Book or CD is a matter of a personal preference. I do have Haynes manuals (books) for our Volvos and a factory CD manual for Mercedes, for me, flipping through those pages is faster than using CD on my laptop (while working in the garage), I just seem to be able to find what I need in the shorter amount of time…

As for the Bentley vs Haynes - I just bought Bentley manual on Ebay for around $60, and indeed worth every penny, considering the extent of the detail it goes into. Hands down the best repair manuals out there imo.
