Default DIY Timing Belt

I'm gonna do the timing belt this weekend myself. I also bought Cam and crank seals ,water pump, Idlers, tensioners to do while I had everything apart. Is there anything else I should have bought?

Also I do not have the tool to keep the cams from rotating while the belt is off but If I take everything off at TDC and make sure the marks line up when I put everything back together I should be fine right?

Anyone have any tips of things to do or not do when doing this? I tried the search option and everything that came back had nothing to do with changing the Timing Belt
Thanks, Tim

Your gonna need the cam bar, the puller in the pic is optional but makes the job a LOT easier because the cam sprocket can freewheel when tensioning the belt.

i just changed my t-belt last sat, it wasn't too hard... i didn't even use a cam tool... just made sure that when i put the belt on both cam and crank were at TDC (well and obviously dont' trurn the crank or cams too far with the belt off so the valves dont' bend. but i guess if you are doing some other stuff you would need the specific tools. i also pulled the AC whioel the front end was off, the part that took the longest was making the 5 different trips to Ace hardware to buy the different star 12pt. rachets and such

^^ not the best way and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone to tackle the timing belt on a V6 without the cam tool ( one mistake and it will cost you big time ) even I use the cam locking tool because it simplifies things and speeds the job up and you have the feeling nothing will happen when its done properly

^^ you mean the thermostat which is probably sticking and the temp sensor not sensing the correct temps
