ok so i bought a 98 a4 2.8qm with damage to the left side, bought a 96 door on ebay and when i got it, there r no holes on the bottom for the lower roudish molding... or am i just looking at it wrong. here's the door pic

Yes, all b5's will have the lower door moulding. There are a bunch of tabs that stick out to attach the lower moulding. I actually have to replace the drivers door lower moulding the next week. i'll put up some pics to show you.

has the door had any body work done to it?

 

hey, it feels like original paint, altho i'm gonna take a closer look at it. looking for the vin tag on the door but i haven't seen it yet. the edges feel like original paint. i'll take a close look at mine and it in a few mins

 

look on the inside of the door and see if some one welded the holes, on my 99.5 the molding on the bottom is there but the center one has been removed and the holes were welded and you can clearly see that from the inside

 

hey, looking at the door closely, the lower part (below the middle trim) has been repainted. so someone bondoed the bottom and took off the tabs. they did a pretty good job, i noticed only 2 fish eyes. the upper part has original paint. donno how they did that, no lines of clear speration or anything. weird. lol. damn ebay.

i guess i'll try to drill/take off the tabs on my door and reattach on this or use some good glue.

 

I'll send a picture of what the lower part of the door should look like when i put on my new lowers.
