For 2001 ESP was an option. Traction control was standard
on A4s in the USA.

well that's even better for you guys just pull the fuse or fit a fused switch between the terminals, I never did like all that new stuff it takes the fun out of driving

Yeah... I have a 96 2.8 Quattro 12V and the last time we had snow I started to get sideways and heard a low soft horn like sound inside the car and the headlights dimmed a little and where the highbeam light is on the dash it lit up like there was suppose to be somthing next to it to light up. I am wondering if that was supposed to be the traction control light going on? I did switch out dash cluster on the car because the last one went dead on me.

What is the indicator that looks like (!) on the dash??

Is the indicator different on a 1996 A4 2.8 Quattro then from the newer ones?

Well when I do get into a sideways slide in the snow there is that slight very dim horn noise inside the car and there is supposed to be somekinda light that comes on. I am going to tear apart my dash to try and figure it out.

Not trying to drift... I was just having some fun in the snow and I noticed that it did that when I got sideways and started to drift.

i have been drifting for the past week... I found a perfect spot not dangerous for the car's body. I was wondering how was the quattro ratio front/back ? is it 50/50 ? Could it have been altered after chipping the car ?

Thanks
