I was changing my oil today and that gay skid plate was a pain to get bak on. I was wondering ( even tho its back on) does it really provide any purpose of is it just there for when (if ever) i decide to off-road)?

 

I dont run one, all it really does is keep your engine cleaner. Serves some areodynanics but not much.

 

It helps keep the garage floor clean if your engine drips any oil or antifreeze too.

 

Not "needed", but recommended.

 

If you live in an area with snow, I would say "highly recommended."

 

I havn't used mine in more than a year.

 

I live in so cal.

USE THE SKID PLATE!!!!!!

I bottomed out on Franklin in Hollywood and cracked my oil pan and severed my ac lines...

end of the story...BIG $$$$$$$$ in repairs...just use it!!!! ITs worth the piece of mind trust me

I would suggest using it. It's mainly there to protect against debry...that flimsy thing isn't gonna do crap if you bottom out that hard. But, it can help with ice chunks and rocks. Some have gotten away without using..its not that important...but it does serve as peace of mind. I bottomed out my car on a big ice lip a few days ago and I'll tell ya..first thing I thought of was...DAMNIT I don't have my skid plate on! Everything was fine in the end..

I'd put mine back on if I could get under the car right now.
