Default Do NOT get a Revo Chip.

Guys I highly advise that you do NOT buy any revo chips.

Heres the story.

The rep came to a local shop in my area of Woodbridge Ontario and I later found out that this shop is not an authorized revo dealer.

He came, and what should have been a 30 minute job turned into 7 hours.

The Revo software fried one of my coil packs and apparently the car was "Fine" when he drove it and magically 5 minutes later the car was misfiring which he claimed no responsibility for. He gave me the only option which was to change all the coil packs (200$) or he cant do it. AND now I have to atleast buy 1 coil pack or my car cannot be driven. Me in my head, Im thinking 575 for a chip PLUS 200 bucks for coil packs puts me at 775+ Tax. Steep for a chip.

I told him to put the one coil pack and put it back to factory settings. The day after, I got the APR program from AMI motorsports (GREAT GUYS). No problems, 30 minutes in and out. And that was all she wrote (NO NEED TO CHANGE COIL PACKS)

I ran my vin number with Pfaff audi and there were NO recalls on my cars coil packs.

Today, he called me and said that I was lucky that the shop didnt charge me for the 7 hours that I was there in the shop and he offered me 100 dollars off. I told him I got 2 programs from APR for 499 and he gave me a shpeel about "Your coil packs can go in 2 minutes or 5 years" and I told him thats true with any part. In the end I hung up on him because he kept lying throughout the convo and saying that "the shop drove across the city to get your part so you should have been charged but theyre nice guys so they went out of their way for you" I told him that I knew where all the dealers were and its a 10 minute drive to get the part that HIS program fried and he played dumb with me.

Bad dealer experience does not equal bad product - sounds like they screwed up

Yeah, revo is good.

1. Guy was not an authorized dealer
2. Coil packs are prone to fail after installation of any chip, pretty common problem.

The dealer is irrelevant because the rep from the company comes around to the place to do it. The shop is just there for me to put my car in literally.

I think he said that personally to relieve pressure on himself.
