Do springs go bad
I have a 96 a4 2.8 with 105k and when i hit a bump on the road its kinda like hitting a little pot hole, I just feel like my springs have no bounce to them. I replaced my front struts and front control arms too which helped a little bit. Thanks for help
Yup, 12 yo springs w/ the heavy engine, over 1000 lbs on each front spring at rest. But you said a bump like hitting a pot hole, did you replace all four arms on each side? My B5 used to need one or two at most before I couldn't stand it, but sometimes new links will shift the load around and the next weakest link will all of a sudden be loose. Does it squeek and groan when backing up if you turn the wheel?
Get it up in the air wheel off and verify that all four links are still tight. I've had them get loose after a single replacement and had to chase itdown, 3 of 4 replaced over a couple of months.

yeah i live in ohio too and they do salt the **** out of the roads, i think im goin to change the springs, I changed all of the front control arms and outer tie rods and front struts, i havent done anything to the rear but i think springs would help more than struts but i prob need both
Yes, I actually had one of the rear springs crack which caused the back of the car to be very bouncy and it produced a crazy sound as it was hitting the shock. The mechanic who replaced it for me said that this is not the first time he's seen it and that it has even happened to his own B5.

if I get new coilovers for my car? Am I replacing the springs along with them or are these springs a completely different from coilovers?
