Does this mean my clutch is going??
My friction point on my clutch is a lot higher than all of the other manual cars that i have driven.. does this mean that it is on its way out or is this an audi thing?....i have a 99.5 2.8Q with 50k...please let me know what you think : )
audis have high relase points. does not mean the clutch is on the way out. Going around 30 mph, put it into 5th gear and floor it. if the revs jump, the clutch is on the way out. easiest test.
wait so let me make sure I understand you clearly.. to test if a clutch is going out, you engage 5th gear while going 30mph, and once you are in fifth gear you floor it? or you floor it at the friction point or what?
Get to 30 and put it in 5th, then rev it with the clutch engaged. What this does is it puts the clutch inder a large load of torque from the engine and if it slips (the revs jump) under this load it doesn't have much life left.
Yeah its got a high release point. I ride my clutch all the time since I only have to press the clutch in like 2 inches to find the engagement point. I taught my fiancee how to drive stick on the car. She caught on really quick simply because of the high engagement point.

Bah... as long as you are careful with it, Audi's clutches are stong. On a hill or something and you ride it, its not bad. I am careful with my car and baby it enough. The previous owner put a brand new clutch 2 months before I bought it.
