i was looking at getting this downpipe-http://www.ecodetuning.com/shop/cart...ail&p=370&c=18 they say it is for offroad use but do i really need to follow this rule? and since its not a good idea to get an intake i was thinking about getting this turbo intake pipe-http://www.ecodetuning.com/shop/cart...ail&p=466&c=86 some help would be greatly appreciated.

That's just them covering their ***... So they don't have to get the product evaluated for highway usage, it saves them time, and a LOT of money. The only time you'll have a problem is when inspection time comes around, a vehicle with no Catalytic Converter will not pass, period... That is, unless you find someone that likes an extra $50 for an inspection sticker.

Also, I'm not entirely sure on these Audis (Very new to these Audis), but on most OBDII (On-Board Diagnostics level II, post-1996 vehicles in the US) vehicles, there is a Secondary Oxygen Sensor, which reads if that Catalytic Converter is functioning properly... With a test pipe, that is definately going to throw a code. However, with our OBDII Hondas that we've run Test Pipes on (Full on race cars), we simply get an O2 Bung spacer, and that takes care of everything.

So if you think you can get away with it, by all means do it!

But for the price of that NEUSPEED unit, you can get a Carbonio full induction box and pipe for $379... If that's what you're going for. Personally, the Carbonio unit is a bit more than what I'm shooting for with my car at this point, so I think I'm going with the NEUSPEED. Just saying though, it all depends on what level you're trying to get the car,

You won't get in any trouble with a test pipe until you have to get your car tested for emissions, when you just put your stock cat back in.

WRONG...WRONG.....i installed a testpipe...and returned the cat back for emissions..but the bastards still found there to be a code...so i suggest if you plan on doing this you get a vag to clear the code. because unless you do this mod right here.... http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng53.shtml , you aint gonna pass.

Dude you need a chip first. Stop this other crap for now. Get a chip, get used to it, get exhaust and stuff, get used to it, get a turbo...

Ok let me clear something up here. Downpipes and TEST pipes are different.

This is how Audi 1.8T Engines work. Engine - > Turbo - > Cat/Test Pipe - > Downpipe - > Exhaust

the CEL can be cleared you just gotta do it.

It will not pass emissions .. you have to change back the cat.

A test pipe will reduce the backpressure created by the restrictive cells in a CAT. Less backpressure = fast spoolup and better HP/TQ

A catback exhaust is from the cat.. back.. (wow really? ) . Turbo back is from the turbo back (another brain buster) .. no cats...

Adding a test pipe will reduce backpressure but only until it gets to your downpipe. And then the small diameter will retrict it. Intake mod, test pipe and exhaust will give good results

why not just go with the catdelete pipe from atp? It is only 170$ brand new. That is what I am ordering next month.
