downpipes
Do downpipes make a noticable difference in hp?
|
RE: downpipes
Yep. They can add 15 to 25 extra ponies.

RE: downpipes
Imolas4, what is good reasonable price downpipe i could get?
|
RE: downpipes
There is no reasonable price for DP's unfortunately. The best price I've seen is $250 for the LA Bree/Tantrumwerks DP.

RE: downpipes
Can they be custom made, like just weld piping from the cat like you would a regular catback exhaust?
|
RE: downpipes
Not exactly. Fit and finish (internal) are more critical. Tolerances for fit are higher and flow from the manifold must be considered - it needs to have the proper amount of turbulence vs. flow. The interior has to be ported properly so as to accomodate the flow and the material has to have decent heat resistant qualities - better than cat back exhaust materials. Don't get me wrong, it's doable (that's why aftermarket companies make them), but it's a bit more involved than getting a mandrel bent pipe to fit under your chassis like an exhaust.

RE: downpipes
I see, you would almost have to have measurements, degree of angle bends, and what material to make it work efficent. Thanks for help imolas4.

RE: downpipes
...and internal measurements, too. Consistent and progressive internal diameters are important.

RE: downpipes
