Default drain plug

what size is the bolt to remove the drain plug from the oil pan? im changing my oil right now and its tight as hell..cant seem to find the right size

Do you metric sockets? if not take a cresent wrench and see if you can break it loose.

i know, but without metric sockets you can sometimes strip them with american.

i got metric sockets...i tried a 17 but the bitch wont come loose [:@]...let me try again

how big is your wratchet? May want to buy a breaker bar or something with more leverage. You could try putting a pipe on the end of the handle to make it easier. Just be careful not to strip the drain plug.

You may be able to apply more torque with a box-end wrench than with a socket. I have had pretty good luck loosening stuck bolts by tapping on the end of a box-end wrench with a rubber mallet.

Why are you unsure of which one it is? There are two drain plugs in the vacinity. the one closest to the front bumper is the oil the one farther back is tranny.
