Dumbest Tire Question Ever
I know that with my truck I went for a price quote from a local ship and they were going to charge me $205/tire and mounting. When I looked at TireRack they charged $152 per tire and I knew the shop would charge $25/tire to mount so they were basically $177/tire. I brought the TireRack printout to the shop and they dropped their price down to $180/tire all mounted. Good enough. Didn't have to pay the shipping from TireRack.
So you might try and see if the shops will drop the price down for you.

Tire Rack have certified installers in most every town. They'll ship to that shop so you don't have to carry the tires around. The shop charges their regular rate for the mounting and balancing.Keeps everyone happy.
Hey! Thank you all for the awesome info...I really appreciate not being yelled at for what I realize now was a super stupid question. I decided to jsut bite it and took the carto the Tire installer guy and the baby's there right now getting some new rolly wheels.
Im pretty excited...no more shaking (out of alignment?) and my 0% tread tires are gonna be replaced with somethign that wont scare me!!!
(PS this all comes up cuz Im driving from Chicago back to NJ....I didnt wanna get stranded in some scary cornfield on the side of the interstate whe nI had a blow out or somethin :P )

Jrsy_Grl, If your going to buy the tires in Chicago, I would go to a national chain like
WalMart, Sam's Club, Costco,BJs or Sears. They all offer a road hazard warranty.
Use
www.tirerack.com
to help with your tire choice. They'll ask you; if you drive in snow, use dedicated snow tires.
They'll also have you rate by importance;
tread wear
performance
comfort
