ebc brakes
Has anyone used ebc slotted/dimpled rotors with greenstuff pads on their car. Thats the set up I have and sorry to say not satisfied. Everytime I brake I get like a grinding noise, when I check the pads their fine. I was wondering if my rotors are defective or thats the way they are.

I believe slotted rotors will give more noise than regular or drilled-only rotors. I would only suggest slotted rotors of you track your car - they will do nothing for you during street driving except go through pads faster. Slots basically shave the pad on every pass and I think thats what you may be hearing.
to be frank, drilled rotors do nothing for you these days. They look cool - thats about it.
Drilled rotors were made originally to let escape the excess gasses produced by the burning brake pads of old.Todays pads are not the same and produce mucht less residue gasses. tThe drilled holes do not allow for better cooling - it could be argued that the holes actually hurt cooling because it gives less surface area for the pad to shed heat. (think of a heat-sink on a computers CPU - more surface area the better)
Do you see Formula One or Nascar cars using drilled and slotted rotors?nope...
that said - I want drilled rotors anyway - they look damn cool.

Hi, I have used the dreaded ebc pads with drilled disks before (uk speak!!), I used to race my last car, and my friend also used them on his tarmac rally car,we used a lot of different pad/disk setups, the ebc pads were definitely the worst ever, they were noisy, not a problem on a competition car, as many proper competition pads are noisy, the biggest problem was that on the rally car they lasted about 100 stage miles!! (Red stuff) and on my car (green stuff) they lasted about 1500miles!! I found mintex were best for bite, not to noisy, and they lasted much better, drilled disks are definitely noisier because of the holes, but if you want to stop quick, do what I did, put 4pots on, now they are the dogs dangly bits!! And far more powerful from high speed!! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

oh and also, when I first fitted the drilled disks, it sounded likethe disk was grinding its way out of the wheel!! but after 20 miles or so it did go quieter, bin them and put an order to brembo!!
I use slotted rotors on my jeep because regular rotors kept warping. I haven't had any problems with mine as far as noise and they have lasted 3x longer than any other rotor I have used. Noise usually comes from a brake pad.
