I know this may be a really simple and idiotic question but i cant find my ECU # where would i be able to find that? I nee dit for APR chip n other ****... THanks!

you mean your part number? just pop open the ECU housing and look.

the ECU is underneath the wiper cowl inside the little black box on the left hand side

eh? on the drivers side of the engine bay is a black box up near the windshield.
It has 4 or 5 screws that need to come out. Open int up and you shall find what you seek.

APR or GIAC should know what computer your car is using based on engine size, transmission and wheather or not it is quattro or not....

fyi: quattro or not makes no difference to ECU on non-DBW models (same software is used).
Tranny does matter tho.

Yes, for the most part we do but there are always strange ECU numbers that can pop up from time to time. As well, the dealership may be selling superceded ECUs so the number may be different.
