Default ECU problem?

Ok, i had the GIAC chip installed a week ago and after a day several vacuum hoses went. I replaced those and everything is fine except.... When I start the car for the first time in a day then just sit and idle after about 30 second the revs drop hard to about 500 and jump right back up to 900. The CEL flashes when this happens. This happens 2-3 times during the 1st 2 minutes after turning the car on. One time there were a few sudden jerks while driving, but I had started driving right after turning the car on. Also the revs seem to fluctuate 50-100 rpm around the idle of 900 rpm, but again only for the first few minutes after starting the car.

For the rest of the day everything seems fine, even if I park for several hours or most of the day and then start it again. I had codes pulled and a pending code 604 was there which is "Internal Contr. Module Random Access Memory (RAM) Error" Corrective action is to replace ECM. So I plan on calling the tuning shop on Monday and probably heading back. Is this probably just a faulty GIAC chip? Has anyone seen this before?

Most likely something to do with GIAC.

Yep, it's the chip that caused this. You should take it back to the tuning shop, and see what they could do about it. What's the name of the place u got it installed?

My hear BLEEDS for you. Having to live in San Diego? What a shame.

My tuner is much closer to my house in New Jersey. Want to swap?

I used to live in Encinitas and miss So. Cal. a lot.

When you reinstall the ecu when they fix it, or do it now if you like but it sounds more like a problem with the chip, do a TBA. Normally the first time you drive your car after the ecu or battery has been removed the cars idle will be a little rough, then it will smooth out. Here is some instructions on a TBA TBA

so i took it up to anaheim and the guys replaced the chip with a newly flashed chip. Although he did say that the program was fine when he pulled it back off the chip on the computer. Also he commented that the error code was very strange. Oh yeah, of course when he tried to pull the error codes out of the car there were none to be found.

He pointed out to me that the vac. hoses were still the old ones. I think the other shop just trimmed the old ones to get rid of the weakset parts. I was kinda upset when i saw this...especially after paying 75 bucks for it. He replaced one for me (the long easy one to get to at front of engine) with a silicone hose. So i might head back to the other shop once again.

Like i said there's only a problem the 1st time i drive the car in a day, so I'll tell you tomorrow what's up. I'm weighing too much on this solving the prob. though. I now suspect a vac leak somwhere that only causes major problems when totally cold. Any ideas related to this idea would be appreciated!

off to work...
