Hey guys, I am going today to check out an engine for sale. It is an 01 1.8t...awb engine code maybe?.... that the timing belt broke on. All 20 valves bent, Head maybe ok, block is ok, comes with oil pan too...(I had to buy one anyways...they are 250 from audi) and the guy wants 300. So I am pretty sure I am going to buy it and build up the block. Is it just me or does that sound like a good deal?

 

i'd take it for 300. if not build it up, you can still learn a few things in the process. I personally would go for it.

 

I'd buy it and rebuild it with stronger parts. $300 is a great price, even if the pisons and valves are toast.

 

yea if you were going t buy the oil pan anyway for 250 why not learn from the engine at least

just got it....for 250. The head and block are good.....all 20 valves bent. pistons are shot too....so looks like I might just build it up....to match the new gt30 series turbo....

 

if you build it, they will.... yeah that's retarded. get it. if you only take the pan, you can still get coin for the block.

 

why not the AEB engine.

 

I've been tossing around the idea of buying a block and building it up, tuning it, and getting everything perfect and then dropping it in instead of building up my engine piece by piece. Then I can take as much time as I need to get it right and still have a daily driver.
