Default Engine starting problem

My 1.8t engine code AMB dosnt want to start after it has been warmed up for some reason. It seems it will only start after 2 hours or when it cools down all the way. And I have noticed one more thing the check engine light doesnt turn on when i turn the key to ignition but when it does the car starts and runs for a min or two. Please Help

see if you can get it to autozone or wherever can scan for codes.. Its probably your engine coolant temp. sensor though.

No im not sure, which is why i said "probably".. as in "most likely"-but not deffinately.. I honestly cannot give you a detailed explanation of why it wouldnt start if it was the ECTS, but i know that if its bad it gives the ecu a bad signal and creates a condition where there might be not enough or too little fuel causing temporary flooding or something like that. I could be way off, but i know that cars have starting issues if the ects is bad or is going bad.

Pull the codes and lets see them.

I agree that it could be the tem sensor.

The CEL only comes on for emission related items.

There can be any number of stored codes in there without tripping a CEL.

I also agree that it is the ECTS from experience. air/fuel mix issue... the mix ratio is different comparing when your engine is cool and warm. ECTS sends wrong info to ECU, thus your car runs rich. if you try n give it more gas, it'll flood your motor. other side-effects: Reduced life of oil, spark plugs, etc...

i disagree, with the CTS, the engine will start with a defective CTS, there is not enough diffrence between a warmed up engine and a cold engine fuel wise to literally make it not start you will get a rich/lean condition for sure, but not a no start situation, the CEL not turning on is a big sign to me we are talking something very related to the computer, may be the ICM, on some cars they are they are what provides the CEL indicator on start-up, other things are crank position or cam position sensor, i would say scan car for codes, if no codes, i need a diagram from someone on here of the PCM circuits, so i can isolate some stuff for ya.
