it comes with complete engine, engine harness, ECU, transmission, differential, complete front end (subframe, complete suspension) catalytic converters with O2 sensors, complete exhaust. Is this swap enen possible or should I try to find the 1.8t fwd? A local shop quoted me $800 for an engine swap but will probably charge alot more to swap tranny and everything else.

Since you have one 2.8, I think you should go with 1.8t engine. it is more fun and more room to mod.
