will a s4 engine and tranny fit in a 98 a4?

Simple answers for simple questions. He didnt ask how much it would cost or how big of a pita it would be. From now on my replies willhave sort of a "bare minimum" theme.

Exactly right, the answer is yes, in more ways than one. With a lot of money and work, they'll fit where the current engine and transmission are, and with even more money and work, they'll power the car. Absent that money/work, they'll still fit. The transmission should be able to fit in the trunk, and with the passenger seat moved all the way forward, you can probably get the engine in the back seat (probably going to trash the leather though).
