i have the 1998 1.8t a4, does the temperature of anyone's car pass the halfway mark when you're going slow or idleing after driving fast? mine passes halfway by one notch, but goes back to the original spot when i start going faster!

 

you are feeding more air to the radiator when u drive faster but its bad when you pass the half mark, you should really get that checked

 

having your temp at half way isnt abnormal I don't think.

sometimes when i start it up after shuting it down, to like get gas and stuff. the check temp is past halfway. Its werid but after a couple miles babying it, the engine temp goes back down.

 

Unplug the temp sensor plug and clean the contacts then replace it, mine was giving me weird readings, that solved it.

Mine never goes above half, ever.

 

when i restart after shutting off, i get the same problem also,,,what did you do to fix it?

 

Mine never goes past halfway... except for one time at the last autoX event I went to and that was probly because my oil temp was overwelming my oil cooler
