I replaced the steering rack at 132K mi with a remanufactured one from
www.carsteering.com
It cost $350. The total cost with labor, fluid and core return freight
was $992.

rack's good. I went through it pretty well last night. Thanks for the head up though. looks like a leaking oil pan or something was running down the spindle... fluid was good and level was perfect. new oil had that light yellow hydraulic fluid color. upon closer inspection, it is clear it wasn't the rack leaking. with 185k miles, I shouldn't have expected it to look clean and new... LOL

Thanks for the heads up though. It's good info i'm gonna ctrl-s the link nw to my audi folder.
