Question erradic idling

Alright, I hate to post such a long message but, here goes.
I took my 98 1.8t quattro in for an oil leak. I had that fixed along with a new air filter and spark plugs and a couple of belts that we going bad. The car ran fine for a while.

About two months later. The engine was a little ruff during idle. The car seemed to lose power when accelerating. I took it back to the shop and the mechanic fixed it for a vaccum leak.

Two weeks later, which brings us to present date, the engine did the same thing. I was able to get it home. It was late so I didn't get a chance to look under the hood. The car wouldn't turn over when I wen't to turn it on the next day.

I have looked and looked through the forums and have started to think it could be the ignition coil(s), the MAF, the vacuum leak (again) or a bad CAT.

Any opinions? I know I can do the MAF and coils myself.
