I noticed when looking at my stock exhaust that the quality is very good. I also noticed the huge, and there by, hard to miss resonator/muffler just in front of the rear axle. My question is:

Do after market exhaust increase flow by removing this device and increasing diameter? And what are the benefits of changing the down pipe on our A4's since some systems come with new and some don't?

Also, since it has been getting cold as hell here, I have encountered some new problems i.e, high pitched squilling from the belt area and door freeze. I have managed the door freeze by opening the door as sone as I engange the unlocking device.

Also, I have read post where some have added certain fluids to stop engine noise. Products that are not intended for engine use. Has anyone had a problem or success in doing this and have you had to clean your oil drain screen?

Yes Please someone do post something. I have also noticed high pitched SQUEELING from the belt area and YES my door also frooze ( 99 A4 2.8 Q). I live in Toronto, CANADA and the weather has been really cold here. Is the "squeeling" noise normal? Also once while I was driving the temperature valve ( not the engine oil one) but the other one went up to 90 as it normally does, however while driving the temperature dropped back to 0. After driving a while it went back to normal. I have not noticed it since then just wondering if that was normal, since it was a cold day. So please if anyone could tell us if the squeeling is normal and any products that might reduce engine noise?

Oh yeah...I got a big fat B&M 670 belt drive sticken out of the hood! It is bad ***. I have the Confederate Battle Flag painted also on the roof with the name "General Lee" painted as well!
