Hey everyone, im sorry for asking this question cuz im sure it has been asked a million times but iv not been able to be around my computer much to read everything so. I have a 1999 audi a4 1.8t and i was wondering what the best exhaust and cold air intake would be for me to get for my car and where i should look for them at. any thoughts will help thank you for your time.

CAI are really hot air intakes unless you mod it. I experienced power loss after installing mine

well thats a lie. with the turbo your running the temperature of the air has nothing to do with power since you have a nice big front mount. if anything it would help because you got rid of some major restritions.

i think the perceived loss of power from CAIs is a combination of the warmer air, which will make at least a slight difference, plus the fact that the power increase would be at higher rpms...you sacrafice a little low end power for a little more high end...

Sorry David no lie, here's the math
Nope the intercooler has a certain efficency, and the efficiency doesn't change as temperature changes. Efficiency is calculated by (Temperature into ic -Temp out)/(Temp in-Temp ambiant) Therefore as ambiant air temps rise, so will the intake air temps (temp out)
If an 80% efficient intercooler had been used with an ambiant air temp of 70F and an comp outlet temp of 240F, then manifold air temperature would have dropped to about 104F = 240F – 0.8 x (240-70)F.

Also the stock airbox is one of the few things audi actually got right, its a very efficient design. I had the lltek and although I didn't log for proof, I experienced noticable losses once heatsoaked, so i relocated the air filter behind the foglight and that helped
