F*CK.
Ok, so we recently had our first couple days of actual COLD weather, 40 degrees + heavy cold wind. My car the last 2 days has taken a lot of RPMs to start going, if I put it in first and press on the gas it will hit 7k RPM (Note I press slow and slowly press more) then realize im doing then then shoot back down to 2k RPM and start moving (SLOWLY). So I'm like, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? SOMETHINGS WRONG? So at first I think its the cold weather, i only do 10 minuet drives typically and I figure the engine isnt warming up or something.. but it gets worse and worse, to the point where getting on a main/fast street is hard to do because I take so long to accelerate, all gears resemble first gear. So today I get back to school after lunch and my car STINKS, somethings burning... that or It was from my over revving in order to accelerate at an average sluggish traffic pace. So I give me dad a call explain the issue, in half a second he responds sounds like your clutch is 98% gone, he just dropped by and drove it and hes positive thats the issue. Car is 03, only has 39k miles on it... why in the world would its clutch be fucked.. luckily we have a 60 day warrenty with the dealer and they'll be paying all costs but still im upset.
Just outta curiosity and I doing everything right?
At stop lights I push the clutch down throw it in neutral roll up to the light, take my foot off the clutch *So it doesnt sit there and rotate/burn* and wait till its time to go.. then proceed with normal driving...
I always push the clutch down when throwing it into nuetral before a stop light, should I do that?
I avoid revving up while the clutch is pressed down, that creates uneeded rubbing, wares it out quicker
Am I doing everything right? [:@] Id hate to find out this is my fault....
If im not doing anything or you got a tip please post!, Also what do new clutches cost?

Yes sir, bought it at 38k miles... and uhh.. I can do 7.5k 8k? I guess, if I wanna destroy it. But I knew something was wrong, theres no way revving this hard just to make it move made sense...
sounds like daddy taught his little girl to drive stick in your car
and there is only wear on the clutch when you are engageing or disengageing, theres no wear when fully depressed
so the neutral stop light theory dosent really increase clutch life or anything

Apparently, I learned stick in less than 1 hour... so I'm sure the clutch didnt like that 1 hour but i doubt I had anything to do with it...
And really? So I could hold the clutch down at all times during stop lights and it'd be fine? Interesting...didnt know that[

i had to teach myself on my first car how to drive stick. Took me about 4 hours of practice going around the neighborhood to keep from stalling out everytime from a stop... and about a week before i was comfortable to not use the ebrake at stop lights so i wouldnt roll into the people behind me. You must be an ultra ultra ultra fast learner... Like non-human style.
Oh and i had to replace the clutch 2 weeks later.
