That fault is not related to the car starting.

ok so all my fuses have been checked. it seems that i am having electrical problems and not mechanical problems. i tested the spark plugs today and none of them fired. also my windows dont work and my sunroof isnt opening. my door locks dont move either. none of my lights on my dash come on. but my temp gauge does show. when i ran the vag-com i only got 1 error and that was the HVAC one. any help would be appreciated guys

???? Ignition switch?, although I wouldn't expect the engine to crank but not get spark during cranking. Have you had any after market electrical work done to your car? I'm assuming that you don't have any type of immobilizer in it. I'm assuming that you checked the spart when you were cranking the engine and that although the starter was turning, there was no spark.

None of the electrical things you mention (eg windows, sun roof, engine, dash lights, spark) will work if the ignition switch isn't in the on position, which makes me think that there is an issue in the ignition switch

Check the electrical connections at the starter switch and at the ECU.

yep totally agree the ignition switch seems to be giving problems on a few members car, the code given was only for the A/C stuck/blocked gate on the blower,

check if there is a good ground to the engine

i am going to make sure that my car is grounded properly. i do not think that the ignition switch is that problem becuz i've had that problem twice already and i know the symptoms but that doesnt mean its not the problem. i will check it as well. as far as the grounding goes, how many grounding points are there? and where are they located? i am going to buy a bentley manual but if you guys know it would be appreciated. thanks for the replys.
