a few b5 a4 q's
First off, hello to everyone
... thursday morning im going to pick up a 97 a4 t 5-spd. Got a great deal on it because it's a theft recovery vehicle and it needs a liitle lovin. But it runs great, and only has 58,000 miles on it. I was reading through the forums here trying to pick up some info. It's kind of hard though because the information here isn't sorted by generation and also you don't have a specific area for actual performance orientated questions. Right now I have a 95 twin turbo supra, and reading tonight kinda of made me sad
lol. I havent run the supra at a track yet, but its estimate is low 11s. So I am going from that to the high 14s 150hp audi :P Then again, I am getting this for a winter car anyways (but who doesnt love a fast car)...but yea, so here are my questions;
What is a reasonable amount of power to have on fwd car with street tires? Then what kind of performane would you get from that? Lastly, what is the best way to get that power?
Sorry for the vauge question, but I am not that familiar with fwd or audi's.
Thank's for the help guys, and if there is another thread I should of read, let me know!

Awww, no Quattro? Oh well. First, your stock A4 runs low 16s, not high 14s. But notice the luxurious yet function-oriented interior! The clean, sporty German design aesthetic! Haha.
Audi guys are probably the wrong ones to ask as far as limitations of FWD for performance. Performance-oriented Audi owners get Quattro, and then struggle with making enough power to exploit it.
How much performance are you looking for out of this car? A 1700$ K04 kit will net you 230-250bhp, which is enough for mid-14s in a Quattro car. After that it's kinda shady. There's no mainstream BT route for B5s. It's not that it can't be done, it's just that a bigger turbo necessitates a lot more changes, and no one makes good BT software for B5s. Unless you buy an APR GT28R or a PES T28 kit, which are expensive, but headache-free and track proven. Some APR boys can break into the 12s. With Quattro.
Nice car, BTW. Volcano black?

thanks for the reply Yuikio! I don't know about the color, heh, but it's a nice black! A quattro would of been nice, but I was really only looking for an extra inexpensive car, but I came across a great deal on this I couldn't pass up! And 16's!?? aw
Oh Well, I guess that just leaves me wondering what the stock fuel system can support in power? If the fuel was left stock, I put a better turbo (most powerful one the stock fuel could work with) on there, fmic, ebc & afc (or chip), intake, exhaust, and some light wieght pieces (like flywheel, pulleys,e tc..) I wonder how the car would be performance-wise then?
off topic:
here's a pic of my supra and bike
