Default Few Questions..

Hey Audi Freaks!

1) Are there Torx screws to release the undertray on a 98' 1.8T Quattro, if so what sizes and any links for ordering Torx sets?

2) How do you get at the fuse box, I'm lookin to install a TT where my ashtray is and I'm wondering about a good way to wire it. I read something about taking the knee bolster off (n00b doesn't know what that is). I'll probably need to take out the center console so any help there would be great! (btw, its a GReddy full auto timer)

3) How long before oil changes on 1.8T? favorite oil?

boost gauge, DV, and TT within 2 weeks (I'm so excited..that I just can't hide it! *dances around like an idiot* )!!

Thanks,
-T

Not exactly sure what the undertray is. Torx bits are available pretty much anywhere tools are sold. I got my set at Sears. The fuse box inside the car is to the left of the instrument cluster. The cover snaps off when the car door is opened. If you remove the cover under the steering colum, routing the electrical connection over to the ashtray should be cake. Hope this helps.

Thanks Doose!

The undertray is the plastic peice that wraps under the front bumper. I need to get it off to get at the DV from the bottom. I've read a tutorial for getting at it from the top but it looks like a p.i.t.a. so I'm for just jackin the thing for easy access..but I gotta get that undertray off. Don't wanna start until I have all the right tools.

Just rip it off. it holds in heat anyway speeding up the heat soak. As for the fuse panel its on the drivers side inside the car. open the door. look at the side of the dash. see that smooth panel lookin thing. take a flat head and pry it off.

The knee bolster is that panel under and around the steering column you can find most of the bolts holding it on but two are hiden behind trim peices. youll have to remove this to run the hose for boost gauge any so might as well wire the TT to one of the power posts behind it

One more thing. dont use the tube supplied with the boost gauge. go to home depot and buy 1/8" clear tubing and the neccesarry brass connectors. be sure to get some kindof heat protectantfor around the hose. (wire looms)
