Finally painted my lowers, what do you think?
I already had the clearcoat, clearcoat reducer/activator, and the basecoat reducer/activator. So, a pint of bascoat (the most expensive item) and a spray can of Dupont's "Plas Stick" was right at $70. Everything would have been between $100 and $150. It's a little pricey to go with Dupont but I'm hoping it'll last. I've actually been really impressed with dupli-color's spray can touch up paint you can get at AutoZone. The color matches from I've seen are close to perfect and they offer a clear coat. Also, the spray cans have a fan nozzle so they spray like a normal paint gun. I highly recommend this DIY project though regardless of what paint you choose.
Thanks guys for all the compliments! It took me probably 6 hours to complete. THe longest part was masking everything off. First I taped off the actual lowers as precisely as I could. Then I took a roll of 10'x100' visqueen (sp?) from Wal-Mart ($5) and covered the rest of the vehicle including underneath. If you have your paint code (which in my car was in the trunk) any car paint supply shop can match your paint. I highly recommend Dupont's Plas-Stick regardless if you use a spray can or a gun. Here's a couple more pics, Before/After.
