Default FIRST AUDI, not first modded car..

I'm getting my Girlfriend, Finacee, a 2003 a4 1.8t, seems to be endless possibilites with this one. I own an srt4, modded to hell, and will eventually begin this new awd project. It's got 42k miles, full leather, bose, moonroof and i'm going to be getting it for under $18k, sound like a good deal? Still has nine months/7,000mile factory warranty and appears to be in prime condition with only one previous owner. Just looking for some welcoming advice from the guys with experience here. I'm a noob to the audi, but def not to cars. Is there anything I should be looking out for for this car before i pick her up on Saturday? Thanks a bunch in advance and look forward to being part of the audi family.

less than 18k is a pretty good price...and you're right, you have endless possibilities with this engine...you can do as little as an ecu chip (40-50hp & 80ftlbs), or you can get a crazy garrett turbo with custom software...at 42k miles, there's not really much to watch out for...how much are you looking to mod this thing?

Thanks for the reply...Probably going to let the girl drive it stock until the factory warranty runs out, so it might be 9 months before the modding starts. I wanna get my research before I start asking dumb questions, but the chip, how much does that run, I think i read better gas mileage with it too? Getting my srt into the 11's as we speak, think this a4 in the 12's would be the first goal.

A chip is a waste of money if you're shooting for 12s...get a GT2871R "eliminator" from ATPturbo or one of its distributors, and get either Unitronics software or tune a standalone.

Actually, since you're a B6, you can do the GTRS/Revo combination, and hid mid-12s on race gas, and very low 13s on pump.

is the gt28r the biggest that will fit? I haven't looked in the engine bay throughly enough, but will. Guess no gt35r...hehe? BTW, I'm a water/meth injection dude so I'm like running race gas all day long. I have no experience with standalone's yet, they are STILL creating one for the srt4, i assume they run aroun $1800 for the audi? Anywho, thanks very much for the ideas and comments and hopefully i'll be bringing some stuff to the table for you guys soon[sm=crossbonesgif.gif]

if you want to get into the 12s you should probably go with the 2871 elim with revo software...if you want to chip it for now most of them run about 500 bucks...iirc most companies offer stock programming with chips so that you can revert back to stock settings, that way the dealership will never know it's chipped and it wont effect your warranty...i know apr and giac offer it, i'm pretty sure others do too.

You can definitely fit a gt35 under the hood because a lot of people have done it. I would beef up the internals for that though because i wouldnt go more than 300-350 hp on that engine it might blow up. the standalone you can get one for about 900 starting from http://www.034motorsport.com/ . Good luck man and keep posting.

Good deal on a standalone...i'm checking out the timeslip database and assuming it's not very complete...? I'm not expecting a lot out of the 1.8, but if the little lady put enough miles on it, then i'll have an excuse to drop the motor and start up the compressor to begin the porting...haha. Well see what's up, I want her to put some miles on it, so we can assess what's up since it's used, stealerships can do some wonders when it comes to hiding flaws but they suck when it comes to actually fixing the problem...haha

just do minor mods like chip, dv and n75 and the car will be fine. if you want big power and have deep pockets then by all means.
