Well I test drove a '05.5 A4 2.0t today (the new one with the large grill). Here are my impressions compared to my current car an Acura TSX and the other car I am considering the BMW 330i.

The Audi has very nice power with really no turbo lag. I was surprised about that. Handing is what I would expect, yet a bit softer than the 330i w/sport. That I also was expecting. The car seemed to have good fit and finish inside and out. The back seat is the smallest of the bunch which may keep me from buying one. I really liked the ride and power of this car. I think the styling of the A4 is quite good. I like the new grill now that I saw it up close. I grew on me fast. The shifter was almost as good as my TSX. It pulls out better than the TSX, but not as strong as the 330i.

Over all it is a nice car. I may get one if I find a good deal on a used one. In this class the BMW is a bit more car over all however. The 330i is a little more expensive though. The TSX wins in biggest bang for the buck, but I don't care for front wheel drive and the road noise from the tires is really loud on certain pavements. That is driving me crazy. Two reasons I am looking for a different car. Front wheel drive and road noise.

If money is no object I would probably choose the 330i. That is quite a car. It seems that it is the most obnoxious in its look which is a bit of a down side. In other words driving it in Pittsburgh, I would expect to get cut off more and maybe all the pickup truck set will flip me off if I did anything remotely aggressive. The TSX blends in to the crowd for certain and the Audi would blend in second. That is a plus. The Audi lends itself the most for mods IMHO. It would be fun to play with.

Nice car, with small back seat. I worry about reliability of the Audi more than the BMW. I don't worry about that with the TSX at all.

well, seeing by the thread WHAT MADE YOU GO FOR AN AUDI (or something like that), most of us were debating between the 3 series beemer or the audi

we all chose the audi, but i was seriously looking at a 330Ci at the time...they both have positive/negative aspects

Tell him apercele79! The big kicker for most people is quattro. Don't forget that. Actually, my dad has an 06 325xi and we both agree that Audi does a better job with their four wheel drive system. Just can't beat the kind of rally experience audi has. His car is four years newer and has all types of goodies, but I think deep down he's jealous because turbos are like blondes; they're just more fun.

 

I do want to mention that I favor the A4 when it is compared to both in the fact that it is all wheel drive and it also delivers better fuel economy than the xi bmw. Yes, the quattro is better than the xi. I won't even consider the xi and I want the quottro.

not that we're bias here or anything, but the A4 in similar trim as the 330 will walk all over it. I had the chance to drive the 330 about a month ago and was quite pleased and reasured that BMW make a very nice finnishe product. It just seemed to lack something that the audi had. Its not even like I can put my finger on it but it was there. I guess it was that I felt I wasn't even supposed to think about going fast in the BMW cus It was just to "nice" and "cozzy". kinda reminded me of my moms lexus. The Audi just lends itself to my inner child, and my outer one. to.

Well Its obviously your choise and you do have good taste in cars. and either way, I think you will be happy. I just think you will like the Audi better.
