Yeah but what is that $200+? Dieselgeek carries them. I'd love to get one but can't justify it until I end up lowering the car.
You can get a W8 belly pan from a VW dealership for like $50 new and it fits the A4. I tried to fiberglass mine and it broke again after a week. I just bought a new one and zip-tied the crap out of it.

The plastic pan keeps dirt and crap from getting into the engine bay. It also apparently helps to disapate heat and make the bottom of the car more aerodynamically efficient. If you notice on highperformance cars the bottoms are all fitted with sheet metal to make it totally flat. Not that the A4 is a highperformance car... well maybe Tom's
