Flashing Key Light on dashboard
Anyone had the problem of the flashing yellow key light on the dash? My wifes going nuts as when she puts the key in and starts the car it stops after a second or two. I have noticed the key light flashes on the dash and its getting worse now. I have checked the key to see if it needs a battery for the imoberliser but there is none.
Cars off to the scrappers if I cant sort this out.
Thanks

so let me get this straight. the car runs perfectly fine but due to a key lite you are going to get rid of the car. hmmm. you could probably take it to the dealer and have it fixed real fast. You could also search the forums for someone with a Vag Com in your area and they could tell you whats wrong as well.
The cars been a real pain and its always having something done to it. Its the cost tho, over here in the UK Audi garage charge ÂŁ110 per hour to work on the car thats around $240 per hour! If I can find out the fault I will have a go at repairing the fault myself.. I am not sure if its the key switch but trying to find out if this is a common fault. The cars a 1997 A4 and I cant keep spending that sort of money each time it goes in the garage. They tried to charge me $140 to replace 2 dash bulbs but by using this forum I read how to do it and it took me 20 mins from start to finish and cost me around ÂŁ3 -$6

immobiliser problem it needs to be reset with VAG or you have replaced the key then it needs to be programed ( and yes it does have an immobiliser ) dealer job by the sound of it or find a garage that has the tools
Thank you for the help. Does anyone live in Derbyshire UK who can help have a look at it for me? I have to sort this quickly and then at least the wife wont keep on at me. The cars had loads of problems,Auto box, Head gaskets gone but still runs, New dash, etc. So you can see its just a money pit and if I cant sort it then it will have to go. I think I just bought a bad one.
