Default To flush or not to flush?

I started noticing a whine coming from the power steering and was wandering if audi recomends and mantnace or periodic changes of the fuide. And if so are there any special instructions that would only pertain to audi that an normal power steering flush might overlook.

it's probably just low and you need to add some power steering fluid and check for any leaks

i just had the timing belt, water pump, etc. service done (for the second time on that car) and my car started making that whining sound a day or so later. I haven't checked it out yet since i brought my car in to another shop to have some tranny work done. I didn't even ask the tranny guy to look at it cause i figured it was just the fluid level, but if your car's doin the same thing and your fluids ok I'd definitely like to know what you find out because it sounds like we have the same problem.

quick question, is it hard to steer. or does it just make the noise, if it just makes the noise, it could be that your timing belt is to tight. it will make a whining sound also.

Audi has no recommended flush period for power steering. That said, every few months for the past year I have been sucking out what is in the reservoir with a turkey baster and replacing it. I figure 4 years is long enough, and it could probably use a bit of fresh stuff.
