Chicken. Balk balk balk. Ok maybe your right trim panels in audis can be a real pain. The one for the diversity box is pretty easy thou. You just pull. Start by the rear windshild and "gently" yank it out of the clips.

External antenna. The brand of tint probably makes a difference. There has to be some metal in some tints that causes the reception issues. Because not every car with tints has issues.

Apparently the small co-ax cable connector is broken and the garage wouldn't do any more testing until this was fixed. The bad thing was they couldn't just replace the connector - they said they had to replace the entire loom involving 4 hours of work taking the car to bits! Being an electronics engineer I wasn't going to accept this so located a replacement connector (I will tell the garage that you can actually buy replacement connectors!). But, I also noticed the mating half on the HU was also broken! So, I have decided to have a go at changing the connector on the HU and the co-ax cable to SMA (the current connectors are the cheaper SMB). I doubt very much this will fix the reception problems on FM but hopefully if it goes well the garage can have another go at diagnosing.

I'll have a look at the trim panel at the back window and have a gentle pull on it to see if it will come off as you say. If the diversity amp is behind there I might just get a replacement and bypass the garage all together.

Its not really a gently pull. A quick yank does the trick thou. The clips are pretty tough. Just start at one end and work your way down.

ya there is. you gota get a more expensive tint. they have a tint thats made out of a different material than the normal tint and isn't supposed to mess with the reception. i forget the name. i got it put on mine and i dont have any problems with reception

or u can just shell out some more money and it wont be a problem. u can still see inside my car so when i go back home im changin the back window to 5% adding 5% on the sunroof and slightly tinting the front. i got 20% all the way around now but its just not dark enough for me. however i dont wana make it look illegal so hopefully only the back being 5% will help
