A good fmic kit costs approximately a $1000 and for $300 you'll find only ebay items

you can peace together a good kit for around 500, or under 300 if you go with an ebay core.. Racetech makes a good cheap core.. but most of the kits are going to be up there unless if you find a used one on the forum but those go really really quick

This is a cheap core from eBay ($85 shipped). It will require a complete custom setup and you will need to cut the front bumper, but it looks like a good project.

Whatdetermins how much "hp" an intercooler can handle? I see IC with the same dimensions but different hp ratings.

Personally, I would not ever buy anything for my audi from ebay. You just dont know what your going to end up with, and my girl deserves better than that.

Hi all,

just want to share part of my obsession with Audi A4-intercoolers, feel free to educate me if you feel the need. I think I worked out which FMIC kit to get after some thorough net research. I've currently got APR chip but eventually want to fit GT28R.

The Godspeed FMIC with the larger core looks good especially for the PRICE, you could use the smaller core also, seems only little cutting required, but I want a big one. Here's a link to a site with A4 B5, installing the Godspeed (eBay) intercooler;

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...ostid=32156423

I'm not sure yet but seems there is two different Godspeed IC's for the larger upgrade core; the PHOTO on the Godspeed website (L type - which I assume is used as 'the upgrade') might avoid some cutting of the bumper support? - See in/outlet positions with kit. Then there's the one's on eBay which I'll probably get (seen it fitted & I like eBay) which does require hacking to fit, mainly due to its thickness - over 2inches.

Some others I found that mostly cost more;

http://www.racetec-us.com/
Good to use if don't want to hack bumper-it uses a thinner core.

I like this one, looks OEM, again no hacking required!

http://abdracing.com/
Not very tall but probably thick and placed in best airflow, again good if don't want to hack.

don't know if available

DIY $150, for those who like to really get $ worth!

There's more IC kits I less desire;

I would NOT use this one for a street car as it's NOT a BAR & PLATE and airflow is a bit limited through standard front bumper. Bar and plate is good for heatsink capacity.

Greddy- not bar and plate,
APR- recommend fitting aftermarket bumper…

If you want to go STEALTH I respect Tyrolsport with their fat SMIC, they may even have FMIC now too.

There was another brand that made SMIC but they had build quality issues (leaks) when I read about them.[/align]

my friend bought whole kit from ebay, dunno how much he paid or which user he bought from but deff. worth it. piping and core is larger than mine which is greddy for b5 a4. and I paid like $750.

I believe this is the cheapest kit you can buy which I have.

Price is $795 now.
