Default Front Bumper

For some reason both sides of my front bumper come off of the clips! It's easy to set them back in there, but as soon as I go for a ride they fall out again, do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do to keep them up?

you'll have to mess with it a little until you feel it fully set. there are 2-3 small tabs at the bottom of the bumper that have to be set right into mounting holes. you can get the upper part set back in, but if the lower tabs aren't in right they will put stress on the bumper and it will pop right back out. easiest way to do it is hold the bumper directly in front of the car at the top and bottom, and basically just wiggle it around until you feel the lower tabs click in place. you can also try to get underneath and look for them, but they're kinda hard to see

The tabs might have moved out of place, if you can figure out where it starts to unhook first, you can move the tabs around and stop it from coming off again.

The corner tabs that your bumper latches into are almost indestructible. Try to push the bumper down-in and up into the latches, im guessing its just not fully getting latched back in the right way. First pull back the sides of the bumper and try to look in there to see if the tabs arent broken. The fact that its happening on both corners suggests a user error instead of a hardware error.

well I'm getting my timing belt changed in a few weeks, so hopefully the mechanics can put it back into the right place. Which brings me to my next question, I was quoted at $670 for a timing belt and tensour replacement, this includes the labor, what do you think? Rip off? or Steal?

Not a rip off. Not bad compared to what the dealer would charge, but i wouldnt call it a steal. For just the tensioner and belt that would be about $100, and 6 hours of your time if you DIY. Its not complicated, it just takes time and tools. Ive heard of people getting their tensioner and belt done for around $500 at joe shmo shops. Its best though to replace all the other belts while your in there and do the waterpump and t-stat while your at it. The waterpump is redesigned with a metal impellar that wont break like the original plastic one does over time. They will have to disconnect the radiator hose under there too so make sure that when they refill that they/you use the correct Audi pentosin coolant. To do all that yourself would be closer to $300 for everything, and closer to $900 for a shop, or $1500 from the dealer.
Well i just realized you are 2.8, but the costs for everything would still be similar.

My bumper comes off the slides on my passenger side like every week. Once I get the Tbelt done and my intake finished, I am going to drill a hole or 2 and use zip ties through the slider.
