I heard its a pain... I tried to get some polk momo's put in and the guy told me the mounting bracket is attached to the door panel not the door frame itself which makes it a custom job... I wanted to try to do it myself but decided the speakers that are in there will be fine until i blow them... so i decided to go with a little bass in the trunk i heard it makes a big difference... the audi sound system is kind of a pain to mod... they made it that way on purpose... hard to replace/upgrade things without rewiring and doing a lot of custom work. I think.

yea i found that alone with the rear speakers...

the actual speaker bracket that screwed to the shelf...

is the speaker housing itself...

so what i did was simply connected another tweeter for more clarity...

id still like to upgrade them though depending on how bigger deal it is...

thanks though....

its actually quite simple...

i took apart the rear shelf by undoing the baby harness (3)...

fed the wiring through the bottom...

and soldered the tweeter connections to the rear speakers...

il post the pic up tomolo...

Front speakers are a pain in the ***, but I've done it a couple times. Here is the adapter I had to make on my earlier car (98 a4). I reused the tweeter mounts, with only slight modification.

the fronts are 4 inch componets but they sell adapters to make a 5.25 fit i found them on ebay for like 15.00 there is a post around here somewhere that has a link to a website that sells the adapters but they where quite pricey. i have not change my speaker yet but will gladly do a d-i-y when i do i had to get the timming belt done first
