Default fuel additive

I know this may have been posted on here in the past, but I want to bring it up again.

What is everyone's experience with fual additives? A friend of mine insists on putting a fuel system cleaner he gets at Wal-Mart into ever 2 or 3 tanks he gets. I'm really reluctant to try anything blindly unless I have a way to measure its preformance or prove it is doing what it should be. Do any of you have any experience with these types of things?

I usually run high octane (91 or 93, whatever I can get) and I feel that runs much better, especially in the winter. Plus, I do get better gas milage with this.

Anway, just looking for thoughts on this...

EDIT: This is a really good post I was reading before I posted this: https://www.audiforums.com/m_387297/tm.htm

Most aren't worth the money except, in my opinion Redline or Techron. Run some through every 10K miles.
