just wondering.....which fuel filter should one use on a 1.8T 99.5. does it matter? can you buy at local store? or am i just asking stupid questions? probably yes (esp to last question) but just wondering.

 

you need to use the one that the dealer sells. And if you're thinking about doing it yourself and have never done it... do some reading. It is a major PITA.

I think I got mine from autozone but that was a while ago when I bought it...I always change the fuel filter when I buy a car seems like the thing most people overlook

If I remember correctly mine wasnt that hard at all but I did have a haynes repair manual

 

I replaced mine not too long ago. Have about a 2 1/2 foot piece of 2 X 4 to pry the tank down, it makes a whole lot easier. I'm sure it can be done without a lift, but it's much easier either on a lift or up on a jack so you can get some leverage with that 2 X 4.

 

thinking about installing a mann or bosch to replace. also been told that i could just head down to AutoZone a purchase one there. their database includes all parts needed for you year make and model. heard it is a real PITA and the worst part is losening the fule tank to get to the fuel filter. if anyone has more tech articles other than the one in AudiWorld that would be great.
