fuel gauge problem
Hi all, just got a 96 A4 T Sport, and I am having a strange problem with the fuel gauge. Every 100 miles or so the needle will drop down into the red rapidly and the fuel light will come on even though there is plenty of petrol in the tank. If I stop the car and turn off the igniton and wait a few minutes then restart the engine the lamp resets itself and the gauge works 'normally' again, although I am not sure it is showing the correct amount of fuel in the tank anyway. Any advice on this would be great, the car has done 152,000 miles.
the wires on the fuel level sender go bad after a while and start to short out. I think ECS tuning has one for like 80 bucks. Im having the same prob with mine. Go figure it went bad after audi put in a new fuel pump. Everytime i go to stealership, something else goes wrong! haha
Hey thanks for your quick replies! Much appreciated. I have found an indy Audi garage in my area so I will take her there instead of the stealership! They already had a lot of my money, but I did get a days free labour out of them.
